The BayOK Program is run by the Geographe Catchment Council (GeoCatch).   Geocatch’s mission is “to work with the community and management agencies to manage the catchment of Geographe Bay and its environment so that natural systems, people and their activities coexist in a healthy, productive and sustainable way” (Geographe Catchment Management Strategy 2008).

The Bay OK program aims to actively encourage all levels of the community to reduce the catchment’s nutrient output in order to protect Geographe Bay for the future through “Our Programs”.

These programs specifically aim to address water catchment issues in the following four ways;
  1. Implementing a community awareness raising program including Bay OK seminars, workshops and promotion at community events.
  2. Assisting with on ground works in the catchment including dairy effluent upgrades, urban stormwater retrofitting, riparian management and improved fertiliser management.
  3. Conducting recognition/accreditation programs including the Bay Friendly Businesses, Bay Friendly Schools and Bay Friendly Events.
  4. Forming collaborative partnerships with local governments, community groups, businesses, events agencies, developers and schools aimed at reducing nutrients entering our water systems.

GeoCatch encourages everyone in the community to get involved with the Bay OK program in a number of ways including: in your home garden & kitchen, at school, on the farm or within your business.  Everyone can play their part!
